Our story: Vineyard expertise
Founded in 2012 in South Africa and relaunched in England, Wyness Vineyards is the creation of Ryan Wyness — a viticulturist and winemaker with over three decades of experience across both cool and warm climate viticulture.
After years among the vines of the Southern Hemisphere, Ryan returned to the land of his mother’s birth to continue his lifelong pursuit: crafting wines that express the unique terroir of England and Wales.

Philosophy: Farming with nature
At Wyness Vineyards, we believe that great wines begin in healthy, living soils.
Our approach is simple yet profound — farming with nature
From regenerative soil management to hands-on canopy care, every decision is guided by respect for the environment and the rhythms of each vineyard. We draw inspiration directly from the landscape, the climate, and the vines themselves, coaxing out their best expression in every vintage.

Testimonials
Ryan Wyness is a true son of the soil.
As his surname gently suggests, wine in Afrikaans is spelled Wyn.
So it was in his stars. Ryan was literally born to make wine.
He worked his trade in French Vineyards and cellars. Then returned home to South Africa to farm and craft wines for some of the finest wine estates in the famous ‘Golden Triangle’ of Stellenbosch. A highlight of Ryan’s career was producing a limited fine wine, Chalbert, for the wedding celebration of the Royal Family of Monaco.
Ryan is a humble and quiet, salt of the earth sort of fellow. But would never tell you any of this himself.
Ryan is an extraordinary talent and I am relieved to count him as a dear friend and mentor.
– Patrick Robertson, Founder of The Fishwives Club Boutique Winery
I first met Ryan not long after Frogitt & Vonkel launched in January of 2005. He was then winemaker at Freedom Hill in Paarl (Swiss Air Awards Merlot 2002 Best Merlot and listed on Executive Flights) and worked closely with us to bring his exceptional wines to our private customers. Ryan would go the extra mile, from providing fast and efficient service, to hands on product training with our consultants. We followed Ryan when he later moved to Rose Garden Vineyards, and also did business with him for the remarkable Annandale Cape Vintage (port style wine). When he later started his own enterprise in Stellenbosch, Wyness Vineyards, we were excited to support him. I am a Brit Abroad, resident in SA for 20 years. I can confidently say that the English wine scene has a welcome edition with Ryan Wyness.
– John Woodward, Froggitt & Vonkel Private Wine Merchants

Ryan Wyness has worked with me for the last seven years. He is very knowledgable and extremely experienced. Over the years, he has improved the growth of the vines and been a source of sound advice. He is utterly reliable and has been a pleasure to work with.
